GCP Student Living plc was a FTSE 250-listed real estate investment trust (REIT). It was the only UK REIT dedicated to modern, purpose-built private student accommodation in and around London. It listed on the London Stock Exchange on 20 May 2013 under the ticker DIGS, investing in areas where demand from UK and international students outstripped the supply of good-quality places to live.

By its last full year end, 30 June 2021, the Company owned eleven modern student accommodation buildings with around 4,100 beds. Since IPO, it had delivered a cumulative total shareholder return of 188.7% (an annualised return of 10.2% per annum), with average annual student rental growth of 3.7%.

In the summer of 2021, the Board received and recommended to shareholders an all-cash offer for the Company from Gemini Jersey JV L.P., a consortium backed by Blackstone Group and APG Asset Management (via iQ Student Accommodation and Scape Living plc), at 213 pence per share, valuing the Company at £969 million.

Shareholders voted in favour of the deal on 6 September 2021, and the acquisition completed on 20 December 2021, when GCP Student Living plc's shares were suspended and it was delisted from the London Stock Exchange, with the transaction formally concluding in January 2022. On the basis of this cash exit, the Company delivered a total shareholder return since IPO of 190.0% (an annualised 13.9% per annum). The Company’s assets were split between the consortium members.
